The details that change the price:

  • Silver has peak and off-peak tickets. Off-peak is Monday to Thursday, up to 17 December.
  • Under-2s are free for the main activities, but need a ticket for the Grotto and the show unless they are babes in arms. The park prices those from £18 on Gold and £14 on Silver.
  • Add-ons: ice skating is £6 a person on the Gold and Illuminations tickets. The Playhive indoor play centre is from £4.25 on Gold and from £3.75 on the others. On the midweek meal deal, Santa’s Grotto can be added at £12 a child and £2 an adult.
  • Tinsel Tots, the weekday deal for pre-schoolers, is from £9 a person with one activity and £3.50 for a second, and Santa can be added at the same £12 and £2 subject to availability. The park gives two different date ranges for it on the same page, 1 to 18 December and 30 November to 17 December, so check the date when booking.
  • Memberships: an off-peak Christmas membership at £45 a person covers unlimited visits on selected dates to 31 December, and an ice skating membership at £60 runs from 21 November to 21 February 2027.
  • One free essential companion is allowed for every paying disabled guest.

Under-16s must be with an adult aged 18 or over at all times. Dogs are not allowed, apart from assistance dogs.

Santa’s Grotto and the show

The grotto is a walk through a North Pole village, a “magic” lift to Santa’s log cabin, Mrs Claus, and then Santa. Each family meets him on its own, not in a group, and every child gets a photo opportunity and a gift. The park says Santa is in the grotto until 7pm, and suggests midweek slots if you want it quieter (Stockeld Park: Christmas).

The Christmas show, only in the Gold ticket, is TaleGate Theatre’s Jack and the Beanstalk, a panto with sing-alongs and magic tricks.

The illuminations and the ice rink

After dark the Enchanted Forest woodland is lit with installations, projections and soundscapes along a trail of almost a mile, with four outdoor playgrounds along the way. The Snowflake Maze is a giant yew maze with lights and hidden objects. The ice rink is covered, 630 square metres, and skating is unlimited from your entry time.

You do not need children to go. The park pitches the illuminations and skating as an evening out for couples and friends, and those two carry on to 3 January.

Santa’s Arrival Weekend, 21 and 22 November

The opening weekend has a parade. Santa and Mrs Claus tour the park by carriage and set off from the forecourt at 1pm on both days. The park opens 10am to 9pm that weekend, and the parade is included in every Christmas ticket type (Stockeld Park: Santa’s Arrival Weekend). The park’s two pages disagree on what pulls the carriage, horses or unicorns.
