Wetherby Manor care home opens its café to everyone on Thursdays from 5 November, 9.30am to noon, with free tea, coffee and refreshments. Who can go and how.

Wetherby Manor, the care home on St James Street in Wetherby, is opening its café and lounges to anyone who wants to drop in, every Thursday morning from November. The Community Tea Room runs from 9.30am to 12pm, and the tea, coffee and refreshments are complimentary.

The first session is on Thursday 5 November. The home’s own page on the Anchor website lists it, and the following Thursday, 12 November, as Community Tea Room events.

Residents, their families and local people are all welcome, the home says, and the idea is simple: a place to meet new people, catch up with friends and spend some time with the people who live there.

“Everyone is welcome”

Caroline Bryon, the home manager at Wetherby Manor, said:

“We’re delighted to open our doors and invite people from across Wetherby to join us each week. Whether you’re meeting friends, looking to make new connections or simply fancy a cuppa, everyone is welcome.

“Being part of our local community is really important to us, and we hope the Tea Room will become a place where residents and local people can come together and get to know one another.”

The home also sees the mornings as a chance for families, neighbours and local groups to find out what life at Wetherby Manor is like and what activities are on offer to residents.

The home

Wetherby Manor provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite care, and it says it regularly runs activities that bring residents and the wider community together. Its Anchor page lists a café, lounges, quiet seating areas, a hair and beauty salon and landscaped gardens with a bowling green.

It is run by Anchor, which describes itself as England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life. Anchor says it runs 120 care homes and serves more than 65,000 residents in all, and that it is an accredited real Living Wage employer.

Wetherby sits just over the boundary in the Leeds council area, a short drive or bus ride from Harrogate and Knaresborough.
