Pateley Bridge Dental Practice has taken over and renovated the building next door, with a new 3D CBCT scanner. Sir Julian Smith MP cut the ribbon.

Pateley Bridge Dental Practice has opened its newly expanded premises after taking over and renovating the building next door, and the work brings a new 3D scanner to the Nidderdale practice.

Sir Julian Smith, the MP for Skipton and Ripon, cut the ribbon at a ceremony with staff, patients and members of the local community, his office said in a release on Monday 2 November. Pateley Bridge is in Nidderdale, about 14 miles north-west of Harrogate.

The practice, run by Dr Nirav Thakker, was established in 2009 and serves patients across Pateley Bridge, Nidderdale and the wider area. According to the MP’s office, the expansion was carried out by local tradespeople and is intended to increase the services available to local patients.

The opening

Dr Thakker gave an opening speech to Sir Julian, practice staff and patients before the red ribbon across the doorway was cut. Sir Julian then said a few words.

“It was fantastic to visit Pateley Bridge Dental Practice and help celebrate the opening of its expanded premises,” he said.

“Dr Thakker and his team have provided an important service to people across Nidderdale for many years, and this investment is a real vote of confidence in the future of the practice and our local community.

“I was particularly pleased to see local tradespeople involved in the project and to meet the patients who have supported the practice over the years.

“I would like to congratulate Dr Thakker, Sarah and the whole team on this achievement, and I wish them every success for the future.”

Among the new equipment is a CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) scanner. It gives a highly detailed 3D view of a patient’s teeth, jaws, face and surrounding structures, the MP’s office said.

What it means for you

The sign over the door reads “Private Dentistry”, so this is a private practice rather than an NHS one. Its website, checked on 2 November 2026, says it is seeing new patients of all ages and offers a membership plan from £16.35 a month.

The practice is at 5 Parkside, Low Wath Road, Pateley Bridge, HG3 5HL, and takes bookings on 01423 712799.
