The company behind the Skipton Road cafe resolved on 18 August that it cannot continue by reason of its liabilities. A Leeds liquidator is now in charge.

The company behind The Bread Bin at 363 Skipton Road, Harrogate, has gone into creditors’ voluntary liquidation. Shareholders passed the resolution on 18 August 2026. It was published in The London Gazette three days later.

The wording in the notice is the standard statutory form, and it is unambiguous: the company “cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business” (notice 5195725).

The Bread Bin (Harrogate) Limited was incorporated on 28 January 2005, so the company had been trading for 21 years (Companies House).

The registered office moved to the liquidator’s Leeds address, which is routine once an insolvency practitioner takes over.

The company’s last filed accounts were made up to 31 January 2025 and filed in July 2025. Accounts for the year to 31 January 2026 were not due until 31 October 2026 and were never filed. A confirmation statement filed in February 2026 recorded no changes, and one of the company’s two directors resigned on 1 February 2026.

Accounts for the year to 31 January 2026 were not due until October and were never filed.

What we could not confirm

We could not establish today whether the shop itself is still trading.

There is no statement from the business, and no first-party announcement we could reach. Every food business has to be on the Food Standards Agency register. We checked it on 27 August. It lists no establishment at 363 Skipton Road, and no business called The Bread Bin anywhere in North Yorkshire (FSA food hygiene ratings). A food business normally comes off that register when it stops trading at an address. The timing of removal is not fixed, though, so on its own this is not proof.

Companies House also still showed the company as “Active” on 27 August. That is normal: the register updates the status once the liquidation paperwork is processed, which lags the Gazette notice by some days.

What a creditors’ voluntary liquidation means

It is not the same as a company being struck off, and it is not a court decision. The shareholders resolve to wind the company up because it cannot pay what it owes, and creditors then approve the choice of liquidator. The liquidator’s job is to sell whatever the company owns and divide the money between creditors in the order set by insolvency law.

Directors are not personally liable for company debts by virtue of the liquidation alone, and a creditors’ voluntary liquidation carries no finding of wrongdoing against anyone.

What it means for you

If the company owes you money, you are a creditor and you should say so. That includes suppliers, tradespeople and anyone holding an unredeemed gift voucher or a deposit. Contact the liquidator, not the shop. The Gazette notice gives Aurora Equity and Development’s contact details as hello@aurorarecovery.co.uk and 01134 800 397, and asks creditors to use them.

If you had work booked or an order placed, the liquidator is the person who can tell you whether it will be honoured. Nobody at the company has authority to commit it once a liquidator is appointed.

If you are simply a customer, nothing is required of you. A liquidation concerns the limited company, and the trading name and the premises can end up in different hands.
